Description :

The MS Acier boule, with its stamped internal surface, partially absorbs shock energy, thus reducing rebound. It combines the performance of a soft boule with superior durability.


Use :

This model of petanque boules offers great versatility, being suitable for both point and shooting.


Field Type :

Reacts particularly well on soft fields and when played without spin (in caster).


Technology :

This set of 3 boules is equipped with Anti-rebound technology patented by MS Pétanque. Made by forging, a unique technique on the market, these boules have a ribbed internal structure. This characteristic gives them an effective anti-rebound system, offering better control and behavior upon impact with the ground.


Finish :

Coated with an anti-corrosion varnish, these carbon boules are available with either a satin black finish or a matte black finish, assigned randomly by the manufacturer. Over the course of use and friction on the ground, this coating becomes scratched, becomes thinner, and then eventually disappears. Regardless of the original finish, the performance and behavior of the boules remain the same, and their wear is similar. Once the coating is removed, the boules offer more grip in the hand and on the court, slightly modifying their behavior in play, but equally for both finishes.

✪ Le Treiz Note :

In addition to its mint condition finish, what distinguishes this model from the MS 120 (also in carbon with a hardness of 120 kg/mm²) is its Anti-rebound technology, which better absorbs shocks. However, it will tend to wear slightly more quickly despite having similar hardness.

Although this model is only available without grooves, the relatively deep engravings (indicating weight, diameter, model, year of manufacture and unique serial number) allow you to place your fingertips on them, providing grip additional when you want to accentuate the rotating effect of the boule. In addition, the large smooth surface without engravings ensures an ideal grip for those who prefer a surface without texture.

Whether new or after some wear, some carbon boules may show a slight mark (red in some cases) at the weld seam of the shells, especially after playing in the rain or if they have remained damp without being wiped. This happens frequently, but does not affect the quality or performance of the boules.


Carbon steel maintenance

Carbon steel petanque boules require regular maintenance to slow down oxidation.


Advice :

⭑ Do not leave your boules in the trunk of your car, it is exposed to sudden temperature variations which lead to condensation. These high humidity conditions will, in the long run, be detrimental to your boules by promoting their oxidation. So remember to take your boules out of the trunk of your car to store them indoors, dry.

Manufacturing Tolerances

According to Article 8 of the Conditions required for the approval of competition petanque boules of the FIPJP :

a) Manufacturing tolerance on each boule :
The maximum difference between the engraved weight and the actual weight cannot be greater than + or - 5 grams.

b) Tolerance for wear due to play :
Weight loss must not exceed 15 grams below the marked weight.


MANUFACTURING TOLERANCE :

Weight Tolerance :
The maximum difference between engraved weight and actual weight does not exceed +/- 5 grams.

Ex : If you order a triplet with 710 gram boules, the actual weight of each boule may vary between 705 and 715 grams.

Diameter Tolerance :
The manufacturing tolerance for diameter is +/- 0.5 mm.

Ex : If you order a triplet with 74mm diameter boules, the actual diameter of each boule may vary between 73.5 and 74.5mm.

Tolerance for high-end models :
Some high-end models benefit from tighter tolerances :
• Weight Tolerance : +/- 2 grams
• Diameter Tolerance : +/- 0.3 mm
