Ancrés à nos racines : du basketball de Rimouski à la pétanque de Montréal

Anchored in Our Origins : From Basketball in Rimouski to Petanque in Montreal

When the opportunity arose to create the logo for the Club de Pétanque de Rimouski, we immediately felt a great sense of pride. Not only because it allowed us to contribute to a wonderful community of passionate players, but also because it brought us back to our roots, to the city where it all began for us.

A Rimouski childhood shaped by connections

Growing up in Rimouski was about more than just the breathtaking landscapes of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. It was, above all, about those long days spent on the basketball court—a true gathering spot for our group of friends. No calls or messages were needed; we naturally met there, some with a ball in hand, others just enjoying the moment and catching up with familiar faces.

Sometimes, we organized intense matches. Other times, it was pure improvisation, with rules inspired as much by our imagination as by our movies references—kind of like in BASEketball. But in the end, the sport itself didn’t really matter. What truly counted was the spirit of the game, the friendship, and the unforgettable memories we created.

From Rimouski to Montreal : Rediscovering that community spirit

Years later, in 2020, we found that same atmosphere again—this time at Parc Lalancette in Montreal. It was no longer basketball but petanque. Yet, the energy remained the same : people coming together, chatting, laughing, and sharing a simple yet precious moment.

That's when we realized that petanque, more than just a sport, could be a way to bring people together, a means to create connections and revive that same community spirit that meant so much to us in Rimouski. This discovery was a turning point for us and became one of the pillars of our company, Le Treiz—whether through our events, our store, or our online content.

A symbolic logo for an inspiring community

It is with this same positive nostalgia that we designed the logo for the Club de Pétanque de Rimouski. Inspired by the official flag of the city, it incorporates emblematic elements such as the maritime anchor, a symbol of the port, commercial and industrial dynamism, but also of hope. The idea was to capture both the local pride and the warm spirit that prevails within this thriving petanque group.

We sincerely thank the Club de Pétanque de Rimouski for their trust. Being able to contribute, in our own way, to this community that gathers several times a week in a festive and friendly atmosphere is a true privilege.

A return to our roots that inspires the future

By sharing this story, we hope to make you feel where we come from and why we do what we do today. Our mission has remained the same : to encourage gatherings, create connections, and allow everyone to discover (or rediscover) the simple pleasure of playing together.

We can't wait to come and throw a few boules in Rimouski, a city that, despite the miles that separate us today, remains forever anchored in our hearts.
